Theater Berlin (Schaubuehne)

My homage to the greatest theater in the world (28" x 16" acyclic and gouache on canvas)

Portrait Through a Window (drawing, with mat)

This drawing alone struck me as a trifle boring (although I like the splash of gold ) until I found this nifty frame and mat on sale at Walmart's -- now the woman seems to be viewed through a window.

Homage to a Lost Bonnard

Years ago in a small shop in Greenwich Village, I spotted a small Bonnard for sale. Not expensive really, but alas I didn't buy it. I'm not a fan of sweet Impressionism at all, but Bonnard, yes. The blue and pink washes, yes, yes! I'll never paint anything like it, but this once I did my homage.  My husband says he can't see the small crouched figure in the right-hand corner.

Messy studio

A corner of my messy studio, which has many, many messy corners. It's hard to walk around without stepping on a pile of drawings or canvases. I've been experimenting with interesting mats, like the one on the penciled drawing on the left.  This one I titled "Masked Woman" is my attempt to be as slick as possible, no stray lines, no expressionist flourishes.

Drawings, African mother and child

As the year closes, I look forward to a #8 year  - 2015, yeah! Look it up in numerology if you care to. It will excite you, too! These drawings, which I call "Reflections" (part of a series) pretty much sum up two imaginal obsessions I've had lately: an African mother and child, and the back of a man. Why them? You put the figures in different contexts and the expression and mood change. The man who appears to be in a hall of mirrors or -- switching the drawing sideways -- he is in a glass tunnel.     Or maybe in the spectacular Berlin museum designed by Mies van der Rohe?

And the mother and child being gazed upon by the same man...
